it shocks me when people call me their friend. like this morning, when kathleen slipped me a free coffee at the cafe and explained to her co-worker that "she's a good friend."

i think of myself as a highly selfish recluse who's a hell of a lot of fun when i come out, but not around enough or sober enough when i'm around to qualify as a 'good friend.' but if i've somehow managed to become a good friend, works for me.
